ECU baseball alum Jeff Hoffman earned his 28th save of the season on Friday for the Toronto Blue Jays in a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
He only gave up a walk in securing the win and save.
Since giving up five walks in a blown save on Aug. 10, he’s recorded nine straight scoreless outings. He’s now 28 for 33 in save chances with a 4.09 ERA, 73 strikeouts and 17 walks over 53 innings.
According to StatsCentre, his save was the fourth fastest over 55 games in Blue Jays history. Kevin Gregg holds the top mark with 32 saves followed by Billy Koch (30), B.J. Ryan (29) and Ken Giles (28).
