Greenville resident returning to play for ECU

Here’s a unique story about a Greenville resident returning to play for his hometown college football team.

Rion Roseborough, a John Paul II Catholic graduate, will play for ECU this fall. His school made the announcement on its Instagram page.

Roseborough became a legend of sorts while at JPII. He played running back and at 6-foot-2 and 315 pounds, he was impossible to tackle. He was the Refrigerator Perry of JPII, racking up yardage at an unreal rate.

He ended up at Towson as an offensive linemen and was even CAA Player of the Week at one point. After two years at Towson, he decided to enter the transfer portal. As JPII’s Instagram account said, “and @ecupiratesfb came calling. Welcome home, Rion!
