ECU alum and quarterback Dominique Davis, who played nine seasons in the CFL after stints in the NFL, announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Davis posted the news on his Instagram page, saying in part, “As I prepare to close this chapter and step into retirement, my heart is full. It is a bittersweet moment. No, I didn’t accomplish every goal I once dreamed of — but I gained something far greater. I received exactly what I needed.”

Davis played in 92 CFL games, completing 344 of 549 passes for 3,967 yards, 14 touchdowns and 21 interceptions for Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal. He played the 2013 season for the Falcons.

Davis began his college career at Fort Scott Community College before going to Boston College then spending his final two seasons at ECU. He set passing records for the Pirates at the time, throwing for 7,192 yards, 62 touchdowns and 35 interceptions.
