Five ECU alumni among Yahoo Sports’ 26-and-under power rankings

Yahoo Sports has five ECU alumni among its latest list of 26-and-under power rankings for Major League Baseball.

The names mentioned include Connor Norby, Alec Burleson, Carson Whisenhunt, Gavin Williams and Trey Yesavage.

Yahoo calls the list “a remix on the traditional farm system rankings that assess the strength of MLB organizations’ talent base among rookie-eligible and MiLB players. While focusing on strictly prospects can be a useful proxy for projecting how bright an organization’s future is, it fails to account for young players already contributing at the big-league level.”

There is a criteria that’s used by Yahoo to come up with the rankings. Through those examples, Yahoo has these MLB teams ranked among the 30 overall teams:

27. Miami Marlins (features Connor Norby)

25. Toronto Blue Jays (Trey Yesavage)

24. San Francisco Giants (Carson Whisenhunt)

16. St. Louis Cardinals (Alec Burleson)

9. Cleveland Guardians (Gavin Williams)
