ECU’s research efforts earn prestigious R1 status

ECU has been recognized as a Research 1 status school, officials announced Thursday morning.

R1 status means it is among the nation’s best “in its journey of discovery, securing Research 1 (R1) status and joining the ranks of the nation’s most prestigious academic institutions.”

The announcement was made by the American Council on Education and Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
