Baseball America has recognized Pirates pitcher Ethan Norby with a selection to its second team Preseason All-American squad.

Ethan Norby was named Preseason All-American Second Team by Baseball America on Tuesday morning. This is Norby’s third preseason All-American Accolade for the 2026 season, having also been named the American Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year in December.
Norby emerged as a key arm in the Pirates’ rotation, playing a pivotal role in East Carolina’s run to the 2025 American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and an NCAA Regional berth. Entering postseason play, he ranked second in the AAC and 10th nationally in strikeouts, while also placing 19th among Division I pitchers in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.41) and 27th in strikeouts per nine innings (11.90).
At the 2025 NCAA Conway Regional, Norby etched his name into program history by earning ECU’s first-ever win over No. 17 Florida, marking the Pirates’ first victory against the Gators since their last meeting in 1994. He delivered a dominant outing, tossing 7.1 innings while allowing just six hits and striking out 10 to lead ECU past Florida.
Norby finished the season with an 8–5 record across 18 appearances, including 14 starts. Over 90.0 innings, he led the Pirates with 119 strikeouts, the fourth-highest single-season total in program history, while issuing only 22 walks and limiting opponents to a .215 batting average.
His standout season earned postseason recognition, as Norby was named to the 2025 All-American Second Team and received Third Team All-America honors from Perfect Game.
