East Carolina sophomore LHP Ethan Norby has been selected the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second-straight cycle according to an announcement by the league Monday afternoon.

Norby threw the first complete game shutout by a Pirate since 2023 Friday evening in ECU’s 12-0 run rule victory over William & Mary. He scattered five hits over seven innings and struck out six batters against two walks. Norby required just 85 pitches to complete the blanking – the Pirates’ second shutout of the campaign.

Among NCAA Division I pitchers, Norby currently slots seventh in strikeouts (46), 14th in strikeout to walk ratio (11.50) and 22nd in strikeouts per nine innings (13.71). He also leads the AAC in WHIP (0.81) and is 23rd nationally in the statistic.

Graduate student and designated hitter John Collins also picked up Honorable Mention recognition after an impressive offensive week. He hit .444 (8-for-18) with eight runs scored, 10 RBI, two doubles and two home runs in East Carolina’s 5-0 week which included two road wins over VCU and the home sweep of the Tribe.

The Pirates are back in action Tuesday, March 18, when they head back to Fayetteville and Segra Stadium for a non-conference matchup with UNCW. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
