ECU’s Emma Jackson Named AAC Softball Player of the Week

East Carolina junior outfielder Emma Jackson has been recognized by the AAC as its Softball Player of the Week, the league and ECU announced on Monday.

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina junior outfielder Emma Jackson has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week according to an announcement from the league office on Monday afternoon.

Jackson had a stellar stretch of games at the plate last week for the Pirates, slashing numbers of .583/1.333/.706 while hitting three home runs, recording nine RBI and tallying 16 total bases.

In the Pirates’ 2-1 win over Michigan last Wednesday, Jackson hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to help get ECU the win. The junior tied a season-high twice with three hits in the first two games of the UTSA series, including hitting a grand slam in ECU’s 10-5 series-opening win. Jackson came up clutch again in the second game of the series, hitting a three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to help the Pirates outlast UTSA in extra innings, 9-6.

Jackson and the Pirates will visit NC State tomorrow night at 6 p.m. on ACC Network Extra before hosting Tulsa for a weekend conference series starting Friday at 5 p.m.
