ECU student-athletes earn degrees

East Carolina University celebrated as 87 current and former student-athletes received their degrees during graduation ceremonies on Friday.

Eighty-seven current and former East Carolina University student-athletes are set to receive their degrees as part of the institution’s spring commencement on Friday, May 9, recognizing both spring and summer graduates completing bachelor’s and master’s degree requirements.

Annie Kate Dalton (softball), Isabelle Dely (track & field), Dustyn Hall (football), Jennings Hall (volleyball), Jordan Hatch (softball), Morgan Johnson (softball), Luke Larsen (football) and Sydni McMillan (track & field) were the lone members of the group to receive a postgraduate degree. All 18 of East Carolina’s athletic programs were represented at spring graduation with the track & field program having 19 student-athletes honored followed by football with 14, lacrosse with eight and swimming & diving with eight.

The list of degree programs earned by student-athletes this semester varies with Pirates earning diplomas in disciplines in business, communication, criminal justice, elementary education, engineering, entrepreneurship, fine arts, kinesiology, psychology, public health, social work, special education, sport studies, university studies as well as other areas of study.
