For one game, at least, the Jones Brothers are together again.
Vi Jones was released from the Tampa Bay Rays’ 53-man roster last Saturday. Then, on Monday, his agent said the Arizona Cardinals had claimed him off waivers.
That meant he and his older brother, ECU alum Zay Jones, were on the same team and could be playing for the Cardinals in Sunday’s season finale against the 49ers. It’s the first time that’s ever happened.
Vi, who played at Southern Cal and NC State, is under contract with the Cardinals in 2025 while Zay is not, AZCardinals.com reports.
“I had the opportunity to play with my older brother (Cayleb) in high school,” Zay said. “I haven’t had that with Levi. I feel a great sense of responsibility as an older brother, as any older sibling would toward their family, to make sure he’s OK. It was surreal driving into work together. It felt like we were going to school.”
