Connor Norby to miss four weeks with oblique strain

by | Mar 25, 2025

Miami Marlins third baseman and ECU alum Connor Norby will miss the first four weeks of the Major League Baseball season after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 left oblique strain.

Marlins manager and ECU alum Clayton McCullough made the announcement Tuesday morning, according to CBSSports.com.

Norby injured himself legging out a triple in last Saturday’s Spring Training game with the Houston Astros. He walked off the field and got a screening on Monday, which led to the diagnosis.

According to the Miami Herald, McCullough said Norby was, “going to see the doctor and we’ll have a bit more of an update most likely [Wednesday] on what that time frame looks like. He won’t be with us when we open up. Best guess right now, those type of things, you’re looking at four weeks.”

With Norby out, the Marlins will use Eric Wagaman, Jonah Bride and Graham Pauley at third base.
