Carson Whisenhunt back with Giants, gets no-decision on Friday vs. Brewers

by | Aug 23, 2025

ECU baseball alum Carson Whisenhunt was recalled by the San Francisco Giants and pitched Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Giants’ rotation is a mess with starter Landon Roupp now out with an injury. That forced the Giants to bring Whisenhunt back for a second time from Triple-A Sacramento.

Whisenhunt was first called up by the Giants on July 28 and pitched against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He did not get a decision in that game.

On Friday against the Brewers, he gave up two runs on four hits with two walks and one strikeout over four innings. He left with the game tied at 2-2 after giving up a RBI double and a wild pitch for a run in the fourth.

Milwaukee won it, 5-4.

With Roupp out, CBSSports.com predicts Whisenhunt will stick around a little longer with the Giants and could even finish out the season. Roupp is expected to go on the Injured List.

In three starts with the Giants before he was demoted, Whisenhunt pitched 14.1 innings with 12 strikeouts and seven walks. He did give up five homers and had a 5.02 ERA. His best outing was against the Mets, where he went 5.1 innings and gave up one earned run.

According to AroundtheFoghorn.com, the reason Whisenhunt struggled was that he seemed to lose his changeup, which had brought him so much attention.
