AAC becomes first league to set ‘minimum standard’ for revenue sharing with athletes

by | Mar 7, 2025

The American Athletic Conference became the first NCAA conference to create a method for revenue sharing with a “minimum standard” for its athletes.

Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger reports the conference will share “at least $10 million in cumulative additional benefits over three years, starting with the 2025-26 academic year.” Dellenger reports the concept came from AAC Commissioner Tim Pernetti and is an “important moment for the conference.”

The deal creates a number of benefits for the schools and athletes. Dellenger also reports the AAC will police how each school distributes the $10 million, and that it’s very likely the figure will exceed $10 million.
