East Carolina head baseball coach Cliff Godwin has returned from a personal leave of absence and resumed his regular coaching duties atop the program Director of Athletics Jon Gilbert announced Sunday.

“We’re glad to have Cliff back and look forward to him leading our baseball program for years to come,” Gilbert said.

“For the last twenty-three years I have poured my heart and soul into every player and organization I’ve been a part of – including the last 12 seasons at East Carolina,” Godwin said. “Along the way, I sacrificed my physical and mental well-being and found myself in need of a reset for my mind, body and soul. I am so thankful for the love and support of Pirate Nation over my career, I’ve never felt it more than these past several weeks.

“I also want to thank the University, Jon and his staff for their unwavering support. I look forward to being back on the field with our team as the best version of myself and pursuing another championship in 2027.”

Godwin and the Pirates will hold their Annual Purple/Gold World Series starting Friday, Nov. 6 and continuing through Sunday, Nov. 8 at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.

Purple/Gold World Series Schedule
Nov. 6 – 3:30 p.m.
Nov. 7 – 1:00 p.m.
Nov. 8 – 12:30 p.m.
