IRVING, Texas – East Carolina defensive back Ayden Duncanson has been named American Conference Defensive Player of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Monday. For Duncanson, it is his first career weekly honor and the first for the Pirates this season.
Duncanson had a game changing play in the third quarter at Old Dominion intercepting Quinn Henicle for his first career pick and returned it 67 yards for a score tying the game at 17-all. The Atlanta, Ga. native added a pair of tackles in the contest and was a key member of the Pirates defense that held ODU scoreless in the second half and limited them to just 123 yards of total offense.
ECU will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 26 when it plays host to N.C. Central. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. (ET) and streamed on ESPN+.
