BYU football coach Kalani Sitake has his alma mater heading to Greenville as the odds-on favorite against ECU on Saturday.
Odds are he could be the next football coach at UCLA, at least according to ESPN.
UCLA fired DeShaun Foster as its coach on Sunday following a 0-3 start. The question now for the Bruins is, who is the next coach?
ESPN had a list of five candidates who could make the move to Los Angeles. It has Sitake as one of those favorites.
“The 49-year-old has spent most of his career at Utah but also worked at Oregon State and knows the West Coast and California recruiting scene. Sitake is 74-43 as an FBS coach and would bring an identity of physicality and toughness to Westwood.”
He didn’t address the coaching situation at UCLA in Monday’s press conference. Instead, he talked a lot about the Pirates and the challenge they present.
“Obviously, the noise will shift the other way. There are a lot of things we can do to help prep our team for it. This is our first road game. It is going to be a really good experience. It is going to be a lot of fun. We are counting on seeing our fans out that way,” Sitake said on Monday, according to Deseret.com.
