Pirates in baseball: Trey Yesavage has solid start but no win in Double-A debut

by | Jun 13, 2025

Trey Yesavage’s Double-A debut started off shaky, ended up strong but resulted in a no-decision.

The East Carolina alum pitched for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats for the first time since being promoted last week from High-A Vancouver. He started on the mound against the host Reading Fightin’ Phils.

Yesavage walked the first three batters he faced, then got a pop out before a sacrifice fly scored Reading’s first run. After that, Yesavage settled down and went to work, striking out four with one other walk. He gave up a double to start the fourth but that runner did not score.

Yesavage left with a 2-1 lead but the Fisher Cats’ bullpen promptly blew it by giving up five runs in the fifth. New Hampshire tried to rally but never took the lead, falling 9-7.

For the season, he’s 4-0 with a 2.14 ERA in 12 starts over 54.2 innings with 92 strikeouts and a 0.88 WHIP. He also has 23 walks and has given up 17 runs, 13 earned, on 25 hits.

If the schedule holds up, he will start again on Thursday against Somerset.
