One of the top high school baseball players in North Carolina has committed to East Carolina.
C.B. Aycock junior Janeson Steele posted on his X page that he would play for the Pirates. He wrote, “I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my commitment and to continue my academic and athletic career at East Carolina University. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and my parents for helping me along this journey. Let’s go Pirate Nation!”

Janeson leads his team in batting (.403), on-base percentage (.551), home runs (nine), stolen bases (nine), runs (31), hits (27), RBIs (27), slugging percentage (.955) and doubles (eight), according to MaxPreps. He’s second on the team in ERA (1.88) and fielding percentage (.957) and triples (one).
