Shavon Revel gets jersey No. 27 for Cowboys

by | May 1, 2025

On Wednesday, Shavon Revel was given his jersey number he’ll wear for the Dallas Cowboys during the 2025-26 season. It’s a familiar one, literally close to him.

Revel was assigned No. 27 to wear this season for the Cowboys. He wore No. 28 at East Carolina. Safety Malik Hooker currently wears No. 28 for Dallas.

What’s interesting is No. 27 was previously assigned to newly signed running back Miles Sanders, who left the Carolina Panthers after two less-than-productive seasons. Sanders recently signed a one year, $1 million-plus contract. The Cowboys also drafted two running backs, meaning Revel could have gotten Sanders’ number for a reason, as the running back may already be on thin ice with the Cowboys, according to TheLandryHat.com.

Despite that, the Cowboys believe once Revel is 100%, he could be one of three draft picks that start for Dallas this season. The team is also high on offensive guard Tyler Booker and edge rusher Donovan Eziruaku.

Revel is recovering from surgery after tearing the ACL in his left knee. Reports have him likely starting the 2025-26 NFL season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
