Pirates in baseball: Burleson has three-hit game in Cards’ loss

It was a slow night for the Pirates playing baseball … except for Alec Burleson.

The East Carolina grad had three hits in a 4-1 loss to the Braves on Wednesday. He got his first hit in the first inning and then singled again in the sixth and eighth. Each time, the Cardinals were unable to score.

After having two hits on Tuesday, Burleson improved his batting average to .276.

  • Connor Norby, Miami Marlins: Did not play in 5-2 loss to Reds.
  • Alec Burleson, St. Louis Cardinals: See above
  • Shawn Armstrong, Texas Rangers: Did not pitch in 5-2 loss to Athletics.
  • Gavin Williams, Cleveland Guardians: Did not pitch in 5-1 loss to Yankees.
  • Jeff Hoffman, Toronto Blue Jays: Pitched the eighth inning, gave up a hit and struck out two in 3-1 loss to Astros.
  • Zach Agnos, Colorado Rockies: Rained out at Royals. Will play doubleheader Thursday.
  • Clayton McCullough, Miami Marlins (manager): Reds won, 5-2, to drop Miami to 11-13 on the season.

Triple-A

  • Carson Whisenhunt, Sacramento RiverCats (San Francisco Giants): Did not pitch in 7-5 loss to El Paso.

Double-A

  • Carter Spivey, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): Did not pitch in 4-0 win over Richmond.
  • Trey Benton, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): On season-ending disabled list

Single-A

  • Trey Yesavage, Dunedin Blue Jays (Blue Jays): Did not pitch in 6-5 win over Tampa.
  • Carter Cunningham, Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays): Transferred to the Development List.
  • Josh Moylan, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): Was 0-for-2 with a walk and run scored in 9-5 loss to Asheville in Game 1 of DH; did not play in 3-2 loss to Asheville in Game 2 of DH
  • Josh Grosz, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): Did not pitch in either game of DH, 9-5 loss and 3-2 loss
  • Tyler Bradt, Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals): Did not pitch in 5-1 win over Quad Cities.
  • Jacob-Jenkins-Cowart, Jupiter Hammerheads (Marlins): Was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored in 4-2 win over Palm Beach. Walked and scored in the sixth for 4-2 lead.
  • Ryan McCrystal, Daytona Tortugas (Reds): Did not pitch in 6-3 loss to St. Lucie
  • Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman, Modesto Nuts (Mariners): Placed on full-season disabled list on April 15.
  • Erik Ritchie, Clearwater Threshers (Phillies): Did not pitch in 4-3 win over Fort Myers.
