Legendary ESPN “College GameDay” analyst Lee Corso retiring in August

by | Apr 17, 2025

Lee Corso, who has been part of the “College GameDay” experience with ESPN since 1987, announced he will retire in August.

“My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,” Corso said in a statement posted by ESPN. “I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.”

His final show will be on Aug. 30, which is Week 1 of the 2025 college football season.

His antics, which included wearing the head of the mascot he picked to win the top game, have been one of the reasons the show has been so popular for many years. That started during a game at Ohio State in 1995.

Corso, also famous for his “Not so fast, my friend” line, will turn 90 on Aug. 7.
