Hoffman came in with the game tied at 1-1 after starter Kevin Gausman went eight innings, allowing a run on four hits with 10 strikeouts. Hoffman kept the beat going with three strikeouts and a walk in two innings. That lowered his ERA to 1.23 on the season.
Toronto grabbed the lead in the 11th and Nick Sandlin finished up for his first save.

Keegan Matheson, who covers the Blue Jays for MLB.com, talked with Hoffman on the emotions he pitches with, saying on his X account, ““I’ve learned to channel it properly, not get too far ahead of myself and really focus on making the pitches. Then, after making the pitches, you can do whatever you want.”
