Referees at the ACC Tournament in Charlotte paid their respects to a former Greenville referee who died last year.
As a tribute to longtime ACC referee Raymie Styons, who passed away last year, the officials are using green whistles this week and wearing “RS” heart patches on their warmups.
The green comes from Raymie’s Greenville (N.C.) little league baseball team.

Raymie Styons worked in Greenville’s Little League along with other ventures. He had worked as a referee in the ACC and in other college basketball games for years before his death.
The refs wore green whistles, in reference to his work in Greenville’s Little League with “RS” heart patches on their warmups, according to a photo posted by “The Josh Graham Show.”
