East Carolina is set to hire a new director of player personnel and recruiting, according to ESPN.
Reporter Pete Thamel posted to his X account that Lance Ware has accepted the position. Ware is a former tight ends coach at Appalachian State. Before that, he won eight state titles at Shelby High School during his 22 seasons there, five as a head coach.

From 2011-18, Ware compiled a 99-25 overall record as head coach at Shelby over eight seasons. He won his five state championships in his last six years. Ware led the Golden Lions to 2A state championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and 2AA state titles in 2016 and 2018.
Ware replaces Scott Gasper, who left ECU in February. to join Memphis as the school’s new general manager for football.
