Gavin Williams, Connor Norby recognized by MLB, Bleacher Report

by | Jan 16, 2025

We’re noticing a trend here.

Major League Baseball websites and publications are cranking out the preseason content fast and furious. And why not? Pitchers and catchers report in just a couple of weeks.

Recently, SI.com listed one player for each team that will make an impact this season. The publication chose ECU Alumni Gavin Williams for the Cleveland Guardians and Connor Norby for the Miami Marlins.

Well, it seems like MLB.com and Bleacher Report feel the same way. They both have Williams listed as the Guardians’ impact player in 2025 and Norby slated to do the same for the Marlins.

MLB.com said this about Norby: “With an offseason’s worth of work at third base, Norby should look more comfortable at his new position and could become a cornerstone player for Miami.”

Bleacher Report said this about Williams: “He upped both his fastball velocity (95.9 to 96.6 mph) and his strikeout rate (23.5 to 23.8 percent) relative to 2023, giving him at least two things to build on in 2025.”
