It’s official: Bill Belichick to coach UNC football

It’s official.

Bill Belichick, who won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, agreed to a five-year deal to coach UNC’s football team. The deal is pending approval by the board of trustees, which is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting Thursday, ESPN reported Wednesday night.

ESPN reports Belichick, 72, worked in the NFL in some capacity from 1975 until his divorce from the New England Patriots after the 2023 season. This will be his first college coaching job.
